We model the past to predict the future

The world leaves a record of how it changes.

Satellite observations, settlement histories and patterns of human activity show what changed, where it changed and when. We use those records to build connected models of the physical and human world.

We’ve reconstructed 40 years of global building change and 10 years of terrain change, year by year, across all land. These records let us train our models and test them against what actually happened. Not just what changed, but what changed first and what followed.

By bringing those models together, we can see how they interact, how change propagates between them and how those relationships evolve over time. That gives us a basis for predicting what comes next.

Meet the team

MindEarth brings together scientists, engineers and specialists working across geospatial science, AI, data, projects, business and communications. The team has worked at organisations including Google, the German Aerospace Centre, the European Space Agency and other leading industry organisations. Many hold PhDs and have published extensively across the fields in which we work.
